Position Details

The Village of Stone Park is seeking qualified candidates for Part-Time Police Officer (24 hours per week).

Days and Hours will vary.

The Police Officer will perform general and specialized law enforcement duties in order to preserve public peace, to protect lives, property, the rights of the public, and enforce statutory laws and municipal ordinances. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty exceptionally. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Must be able to:
• Read and write English;
• Have good communication skills;
• Work without direct supervision;
• Deal firmly and courteously with the public;
• Analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine the proper course of action;
• React quickly and calmly in an emergency situation;
• Develop interpersonal communications
• Develop and maintain investigative techniques and firearms proficiency
• Must have a working knowledge and/or the ability to access information in criminal and traffic law, and Department policy
• Be of good moral character, of temperate habits, of sound health, and physically and mentally able to perform assigned duties
• Must have graduated from a Police Academy Basic Training or Part-Time Academy approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board 

Qualified Requirements: 

• Good oral and written communication
• Must be at least 21years of age
• Pass a Medical Examination
• Possess a High School diploma or GED certificate
• Possess a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License
• Possess No prior Felony convictions
• Any individual who has served in the U.S. Military must have been honorable discharged
• Must have completed the State of Illinois basic recruit academy and meet the requirements for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for certified Police Officer.
