Salary:

• Starting: $40,000.00

  Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any hours worked over the regular 8 hours will be paid at time and a half.

Position Details

The Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (VMEG) is seeking an individual for the position of Narcotics Special Agent.

VMEG is a covert / undercover narcotics enforcement unit.

A VMEG agent is a certified police officer whose duties are 100% drug enforcement related. VMEG agents are responsible for the enforcement of Illinois and federal drug statutes.

This position is open to candidates who are already certified police officers and candidates who are looking for their first police job. The successful candidate will be trained in basic narcotics investigation, interview and interrogation, and other disciplines as needed. You would be required to make a two year commitment at VMEG.

Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization.
• Must be 21 years of age or older by the completion of your police academy.
• Must possess a valid drivers license.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must complete an approved 14-week basic training course within six months of initial hire.
• Must not have any felony convictions nor convictions of disqualifying misdemeanors.
• Must pass an Illinois State Police pre-employment background check.
• Must pass the ILETSB physical fitness test (POWER test).
• Must reside within Vermilion County, Illinois.
