Position Details

Grundy County ETSB, located in Morris, Illinois, is now accepting applications for the position of full-time 911 Dispatcher/Telecommunicator.

Grundy County ETSB dispatches for 15 police, fire, and EMS agencies.

Position Summary:

• Answer, input, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service for police, fire, and EMS agencies via Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), radio consoles, and telephones.
• Operate a variety of records, mapping, and communications equipment.
• Assist with administrative, clerical, and data entry/retrieval tasks essential to the efficient operation of the communications center.
• Maintain confidentiality of all obtained and disseminated information.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications such as Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Full Access Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS), Incident Command System (ICS), and National Incident Management System (NIMS).
• Assist in the training of new Telecommunications personnel.
• Keep informed of city/county ordinances, department policies, state statutes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other related information/documents. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a High School Diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.).
• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Must be capable of working up to twelve (12) hours at a time.
• Continuously wear a communications headset that will cover one (1) ear or fit within the ear canal of an ear, while retaining the ability to hear and understand other outside sound sources.
• Ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment online examination, panel interview, psychological evaluation, and background investigation.
• Must possess the ability and willingness to work any or all assigned shifts of a twenty-four (24) hour day period, including weekends and holidays, be available for emergency call-in, overlapping of shifts and/or overtime as required.
