• The starting salary for this position is $25.56 – $26.64/hour DOQ.

Position Details

POSITION:

The Village of Lake Zurich has an immediate need for qualified candidates for the position of Telecommunicator. Telecommunicators serve as the central coordination point between emergency services and the public.  They receive and respond to 911 calls or other electronic requests for emergency assistance, including law enforcement, fire, medical, and other emergency/non-emergency services.  Lake Zurich provides 24/7 service for Lake Zurich Police/Fire, Kildeer Police, Hawthorn Woods Police, Island Lake Police, Tower Lakes Police and Wauconda Police/Fire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Receives complaints from public concerning emergencies and non-emergencies.
• Broadcasts orders to appropriate personnel in vicinity to investigate complaints, and relays instructions or questions from remote units. 
• Solicits information to determine appropriate resources needed to respond to requests for service. 
• Monitors status of dispatched assignments and units and coordinates all police, fire, EMS, public works and other emergency requests, relaying instructions to radio units concerned. 
• Enters and retrieves information using computer aided dispatch system (CAD). 
• Maintains required certifications to provide Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).
• Receive requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records, warrants and additional data in accordance with LEADS policies, procedures and guidelines.  
• Maintains file records and messages. 
• Monitors burglar and fire alarm systems to detect illegal entry and fires at businesses and residences.
