The Board of Fire & Police Commission for The Village of Romeoville, Illinois, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter, without regard to race, color, creed, gender or ethnic origin, to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings in the Romeoville Fire Department.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 20 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of written examination but must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment, unless the candidate qualifies for an exemption as a veteran and/or firefighter as provided by state statutes.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire.
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Illinois licensed EMT-P at time of hire: Applicants enrolled in a State of Illinois IDPH approved paramedic program shall be allowed to complete the testing process. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in the program by submitting a letter from the organization sponsoring their enrollment or by the course administrator, on their letterhead.
- Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certificate with ladder climb: Applicants that obtain a ranking on the final eligibility registry and are notified of a conditional offer of employment whose CPAT certification card has expired may be required to successfully pass the test again, prior to advancing in the hiring process. Applicants shall be responsible for all cost associated with the CPAT, and ladder climb testing.
