All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of West Dundee:

• At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of written examination (January 14, 2025), except per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/0-1-7 and 5/10-1-12 of the Civil Service Act, which provides in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois;
• U.S. Citizenship;
• No felony convictions and must be of good moral character;
• High school graduate or GED equivalent;
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record;
• Possess a valid EMT-B License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) at the time of Oral Interview (February 10, 2025);
• Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) at the time of conditional employment offer;
• Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb at the time of conditional employment offer, with an issue date within 12 months of the date of the offer of conditional employment;
• Must complete the Basic Operations Firefighter Academy, if not already certified, within the first year of employment;
• Must successfully pass a written examination with a score of 70% or better;
• Residency within 75 miles of the Village of West Dundee within one year of hire;
• Must successfully complete:
• oral interview
• background investigation
• medical examination
• drug test
• polygraph
• psychological examination 

Online Written Examination Testing:

After completing all application materials and reviewing of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to participate in a remote online written exam available between Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 9:00 AM and Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM.

Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer.

All candidates will receive an email approximately one week prior regarding their status in the process, along with further instructions for taking the online written exam.
