  • Base Salary Range between $24.16 and $31.09/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

The award-winning Police department is one of the most visible Village departments and works to keep the Orland Park community safe and oversees the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

We currently seek an experienced, mature, and responsible professional to join the department as Part-Time Crime Analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

• This individual is responsible for gathering crime analysis for tactical, strategic, administrative and intelligence purposes while executing in-depth, systematic analytical processes to provide relevant timely information regarding crime patterns, trends and correlations.
• Developing, implementing and evaluating problem-oriented policing projects and determining the effectiveness of current department performance.
• This important role creates, instructs and assists with responses to requests from department members in areas related to crime analysis, intelligence functions and Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) reporting requirements.
• Performs analysis of data retrieved from computer searches of internal and external databases, police reports, bulletins and various other open-source documents to identify crime, crime patterns and trends.
• Utilizes data to forecast future crime occurrences; prepares comprehensive reports, maps, spreadsheets and other related written materials; interprets complex data and testifies in court as needed.
• Assists with routine, complex investigations, some emergency operations and helps with suspect identification.
• This position requires thorough knowledge of local, regional and national criminal and other law enforcement sensitive activity through various websites, and reviews sensitive law enforcement intelligence databases.
• Maintains data in a secure and confidential manner within police department guidelines; reviews department policies to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines for reporting and disseminating information.
• Reviews department camera systems during criminal investigations; participates in various departmental meetings, roll calls and district meetings to share relevant information. 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

• This position requires an Associate's degree or a minimum of two years of completion of college coursework.
• Thorough knowledge of the goals and objectives of the Police Department, laws, and ordinances of the Village, State and federal governments is required.
• The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups is required along with the ability to prepare plans reports and proposals and establish and maintain operational records is also required.
