You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen of the United States or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States. Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's at the time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the time of filing the application (9/24/25) and at such time as the Final Eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer in a municipality in Illinois.  Applicants, at such time as they file their application (9/24/25), must be 21 years of age or 20 years of age and have successfully completed 2 years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university.
• Education:  Must have a High School Diploma, GED or High School Proficiency Certificate
• Character:  Applicants must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Tattoos: No visible neck or face tattoos
• Testing:  Must be able to complete all phases of testing.

There is a $10.00 non-refundable application fee.

Applications are NOT available at the Minooka Police Department or Village Hall.
