Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application

Job Application

You must meet the following minimum requirements by the application deadline:

• U.S. Citizen
• At least 20 years of age by the date of application, and at least 21 years of age at time of conditional offer of employment. Not older than 35 by time of appointment.
• No felony convictions
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Present a valid CPAT with Ladder Climb – must be dated within 12 months of the application deadline.
• Possess a valid IDPH or Nationally Registered Basic license (EMT-B) due at time of hire.
• Candidates will be required to obtain a paramedic license after hiring as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. 

Required Documentation due by 2:00 PM (CST) on 9/26/2025:

• Online Application – available after download
• Consent and Release Form (2 pages) – available after download
• Copy of high school diploma or GED
• Copy of valid driver's license
• Copy of birth record – can include: U.S. County/State issued birth certificate, U.S. Passport, or Naturalization papers
• Copy of CPAT and Ladder Climb Card(s) dated no earlier than May 10, 2023
• Optional copy of valid Illinois IDPH EMT-B or EMT-Paramedic License (paramedic due at time of hire) 

Virtual Testing Information:

Candidates must take the mandatory written examination the week of October 20th, 2025.

The exam will be administered virtually and you will take the exam in your own home. Sessions will be offered during business hours – no nights or weekends dates/times will be offered. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times. Exact dates/times will be released at a later time.
