Position Details

Lateral Transfers:

For purposes of this section, a "Lateral Transfer" shall mean an individual who:

• Meets the minimum requirements for original appointment to the rank of Public Safety Officer and all other eligibility requirements established by the Board of Public Safety Commissioners or this Code for newly hired employees; AND
• Either possesses:
• All certifications and qualifications required by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and has previously been employed as a full-time certified police officer; OR
• Equivalent qualifications from another agency, and obtains a waiver from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board to serve as a full-time police officer, and has previously been employed as a full time certified police officer; OR
• All certifications required by Illinois law to be employed as a firefighter/paramedic (EMT) and who is or has been employed as a full-time firefighter/paramedic in the State of Illinois.
• Be in good standing with your department as of the date of application as well as the date of certification by the Commission
• Successful completion of Police Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (P.O.W.E.R.) test within 6 months of date of application conducted by the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) or an Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) Mobile Training Unit pursuant to the P.O.W.E.R. test guidelines of the ILETSB

Probationary Period for Lateral Transfers:

All persons receiving an appointment as a Lateral Transfer shall be required to serve a probationary period of three (3) years.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department has a residency requirement.
