Lateral Applications

The Belvidere Police Department is accepting applications for sworn full-time lateral entry police officers.

The City of Belvidere has a diverse population of 26,500. Our Community has a low crime rate. The Community has consistently shown strong support for our police department and law enforcement as a whole. Our agency has 43 sworn officers that support all aspects of patrol and investigative functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have at least 2 years of experience as a full-time sworn certified law enforcement officer
• State of Illinois Certification by ILETSB
• Valid Illinois Driver's license
• United States Citizen or naturalized citizen
• Education - High School diploma or equivalent
• Certain criminal history may disqualify candidate
• After the 12 month probationary period, the officer will be required to live within the 25-mile radius of the Belvidere Police Department
